ISTANBUL CVB TOLD THE STORY OF A TALE OF TWO CITIES IN JAPAN

Istanbul Convention and Visitors Bureau was thrilled to tell A Tale of Two Cities campaign in Tokio. Istanbul CVB was the guest speaker in the Meeting and Events Industry Symposium organized by Japan Tourism Agency on 15th of March. The Japan National Tourism Organization is one of the supporters of the event and the Lecturer Dr. Leo Esaki, Nobel Prize winner for Physics Laureate, was the speaker of the symposium

The concept behind A Tale of Two Cities is to create awareness of Istanbul as a flourishing and successful MICE destination. Istanbul highlights both its charm and capacity – by breaking down the misconceptions with the ‘two cities’ slogan and brand campaign whereby the city’s high-tech modern infrastructure is juxtaposed against its monumental history.

Istanbul has A Tale of Two Cities to tell at Meetings Show

LONDON (July 2015) – The Istanbul Convention and Visitors Bureau (ICVB) is excited to have kicked off presenting Istanbul at the Meetings Show in London today at one of the world’s top shows for meetings, conventions and incentives to press, buyers, meeting and event decision-makers. Meeting with the press and buyers at a well-attended conference today, Istanbul CVB shared news and trends on Istanbul’s latest developments and investments, including up-to-date statistics, together with the bureau’s recent global marketing campaign. Istanbul CVB is taking place in Turkey stand J19.

Istanbul is very much the centre of attention globally, recently rising to the 5th most visited city according to MasterCard Global Destinations Cities Index 2015. LONDON (April 2015)Istanbul Convention and Visitor Bureau’s (ICVB) General Manager Ozgul Ozkan Yavuz moderated the Destination Marketing panel at this year’s World Tourism Forum in Istanbul which included leaders of tourism from around the world.

The World Tourism Forum (WTF) was held for the first time in Istanbul on 30 April at the Shangri-La Bosphorus hotel with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Delegates from Europe, USA, Russia, the Caucasus and Azerbaijan discussed the future of tourism at the forum.

The forum was opened by President of the WTF Bulut Bagcı and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s Director of General Promotion Irfan Onal with topics covered including Advertising Solutions for Tourism, Online Tourism, The Effects of Policy on Health Tourism & Health Tourism, New Visions in Aviation, New Generation Hotel Management, Technological Solutions in Tourism and Destination Marketing. Director of General Promotion for the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Irfan Onal, spoke on Strategies in Promoting Turkey.

Future of Destination Marketing
The ICVB brought to the agenda the marketing of cities from both the point of view of the congress and tourism sectors, working to bring the experience of different countries and cities in enriching the discussions. ICVB’s General Manager Ozgul Ozkan Yavuz moderated the Destination Marketing discussion panel of the forum, with speakers including Qatar International Congress Centre’s General Manager Ken Jamieson, Azerbaijan Congress Bureau’s General Manager Florian Sengstschmid and New York City Culture and Tourism Minister Marty Markowitz.

The World Tourism Forum is an annual platform in Istanbul in which international leaders of the tourism industry get together to discuss the future of tourism and to determine new trends and co-ordinate meetings with industry agencies. The purpose of the forum is also to contribute to Turkey’s economic growth through raising the country’s tourism potential thereby increasing Turkey’s market share of international tourism, to transfer new generational models of consumer behaviour to forum participants, to share new technological trends in the tourism sector as well as an international marketing vision with local companies.

HOSTS INTERNATIONAL PRESS IN ISTANBUL

LONDON (30 March 2015) – The Istanbul Convention and Visitors Bureau (ICVB) works hard to bring the most important conventions and meetings in the world to Istanbul as its promotional work continues to gather pace. The ICVB has brought together high profile editors and journalists from the highest circulating and most read publications around the world within the convention, event organisation and incentive sector to Istanbul; to showcase and demonstrate the city’s huge business potential in the international meeting and convention market.

14 International Media Representatives from the USA, Europe and Asia met in Istanbul for the first time, hosted by ICVB between 25 and 28 March.

Commenting on the 4-day press visit Ozgul Ozkan Yavuz, General Manager of the Istanbul Convention and Visitors Bureau, said: “We are focussing our promotional activities with the aim of Istanbul reaching the pinnacle of the international arena. The majority of the visiting press who participated on our tour were travelling to Istanbul for the first time, expressing how happy they were to be here. Istanbul is a unique and excellent location for the convention and meetings sector due to its accessibility and its dynamic and distinctive atmosphere.”

Editors and journalists from the USA, France, UK, Belgium, Germany, Slovenia and India from a total of 14 convention, event and incentive publications were hosted as part of the press tour programme between 25 and 28 March by ICVB. The representatives of the most prominent magazines in the sector mainly explored convention centres, together with various hotels, arts and cultural centres, as well enjoying the city’s wining and dining. They also explored Istanbul’s historical quarters and discovered the city’s natural beauty while meeting colleagues from the sector.

Chaired by Ibrahim Caglar, President of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, and including representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, THY (Turkish Airlines), TÜRSAB (Association of Turkish Travel Agencies), TUROB (Touristic Hotels and Investors Association), TYD (Tourism Investors Association) and SKÅL Istanbul and managed under the umbrella of TUGEV (Tourism Development and Education Foundation), the Istanbul Convention and Visitors Bureau is continuing its dynamic promotion of Istanbul on the international stage.
