ISTANBUL CVB TOLD THE STORY OF A TALE OF TWO CITIES IN JAPAN

Istanbul Convention and Visitors Bureau was thrilled to tell A Tale of Two Cities campaign in Tokio. Istanbul CVB was the guest speaker in the Meeting and Events Industry Symposium organized by Japan Tourism Agency on 15th of March. The Japan National Tourism Organization is one of the supporters of the event and the Lecturer Dr. Leo Esaki, Nobel Prize winner for Physics Laureate, was the speaker of the symposium

The concept behind A Tale of Two Cities is to create awareness of Istanbul as a flourishing and successful MICE destination. Istanbul highlights both its charm and capacity – by breaking down the misconceptions with the ‘two cities’ slogan and brand campaign whereby the city’s high-tech modern infrastructure is juxtaposed against its monumental history.

Istanbul CVB showcased the city both in Paris & Lyon!

Istanbul CVB plays an active role in introducing Istanbul to international platforms and  has successfully represented the city with the cooperation of the Paris Turkish Culture & Tourism Office both in Paris and Lyon.

Istanbul CVB attended a workshop in Paris with its members; Halic Congress Center, Istanbul Congress Center and Istanbul Lutfi Kirdar-ICEC. On Wednesday, February 10th, the Paris Turkish Culture & Tourism Office and Turkish Airlines made separate presentations and promoted Istanbul to its fullest.

The second stop of Istanbul CVB was SBE MICE Show Business Events in Lyon. Istanbul CVB conducted almost 40 face to face meetings. On Thursday, February 11th, Istanbul CVB hosted a press conference with the participation of press and association executives and presented Istanbul’s news on the latest and upcoming developments and investments in the city.

Exciting up-and-coming infrastructure projects for Istanbul include a third airport for 2019 which will cater to 150 million passengers, making the city the largest airline hub in the world, and a new road tunnel under construction, the ‘Eurasia Tunnel’, which will connect Asia and Europe under the Bosphorus.

Istanbul CVB commits to the UNWTO Global Code of Ethics for Tourism

Istanbul Convention & Visitors Bureau (ICVB), has pledged to observe the principles of the
UNWTO Global Code of Ethics for Tourism in Antalya, Turkey on 29 September 2015.

Istanbul CVB joins the growing number of tourism companies and associations to sign a Private Sector Commitment to the UN World Tourism Organization Code of Ethics, pledging to promote and implement the values of responsible and sustainable tourism development as championed by the Code. Mr. Taleb D. Rifai, UNWTO Secretary-General and Mr. Bahadır Yaşık, Vice President of Istanbul CVB signed together during the meeting in Antalya on 29 October.
We, as ICVB, are proud that we have signed the code of ethics. We strongly believe that the tourism and meeting industries plays a very significant role in improving a sustainable future and the signature of the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism represents a strong and necessary commitment. We also believe that the Code is the basis for sustainability in tourism and meeting industries and on behalf of ICVB, I would like to thank the UNWTO for giving this opportunity”, said Mr. Bahadır Yaşık, Vice President of ICVB.
The Code is UNWTO’s core policy document and represents a guide for the development of sustainable tourism. Adopted in 1999 by the UNWTO General Assembly and endorsed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2001, it is designed to guide the development of tourism in a way that maximizes the socio-economic benefits of the sector, while minimizing any negative impacts.

Istanbul has A Tale of Two Cities to tell at Meetings Show

LONDON (July 2015) – The Istanbul Convention and Visitors Bureau (ICVB) is excited to have kicked off presenting Istanbul at the Meetings Show in London today at one of the world’s top shows for meetings, conventions and incentives to press, buyers, meeting and event decision-makers. Meeting with the press and buyers at a well-attended conference today, Istanbul CVB shared news and trends on Istanbul’s latest developments and investments, including up-to-date statistics, together with the bureau’s recent global marketing campaign. Istanbul CVB is taking place in Turkey stand J19.
