The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre’s Director of Human Resources, Muhammad Vickneswaran (centre), receives the venue’s Malaysia Best Employer Brand Award 2018 for the Hospitality Sector and his Malaysia’s Most Talented HR Leaders Award 2018 from Malaysian Institute of Human Resource Management (MIHRM) President and Chief Executive Officer, Aresandiran J. Naidu and Chief Executive Officer of Berjaya Hotels & Resorts, Hanley Chew.

KUALA LUMPUR, April 2018 – The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) has won the Malaysia Best Employer Brand Award 2018 for the Hospitality Sector and the Centre’s Director of Human Resources, Muhammad Vickneswaran, received Malaysia’s Most Talented HR Leaders Award 2018, at the 4th Malaysia Best Employer Brand Awards 2018. These accolades follow the venue’s recent achievement in winning thePembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad” for the Large Service Sector at the Human Resource Development (HRD) Awards 2017.

The Malaysia Best Employer Brand Awards features the top organisations from Malaysia who are exemplary in Human Resources (HR) and use marketing communications effectively for HR Development. The winners of the Best Employer Awards were assessed based on their outstanding achievements in translating and combining vision and action with HR Strategy; building alignment to mesh HR Strategy with business priorities; and cultivating competencies for the future to enable the organisation to be future-ready.

Speaking on the success at the Malaysia Best Employer Brand Awards Ceremony, the Centre’s Director of Human Resources, Muhammad Vickneswaran, shared, “This award reflects the commitment of the Centre’s leadership in placing great emphasis on the development of human capital and future leaders for the hospitality and business events industry. Quality and service excellence depend on well-trained workforce and that is why talent development and retention and skills enhancement are a highly regarded part of our day-to-day operation.

He continued, “As such, receiving this accolade, which recognises our efforts to attract, develop and retain local talent is a great honour and why we are elated to win this award. It also gives us a sense of our standing against other industry leaders and further inspires us to continue our efforts in building an excellent team.

Echoing Muhammad’s delight at receiving the Malaysia Best Employer Brand Award, the Centre’s General Manager, Alan Pryor said, “I would also like to congratulate Muhammad on winning Malaysia’s Most Talented HR Leaders Award. The accolade is much deserved and recognises his vast knowledge and experience in Human Resources, which our team benefits from every day.

The Malaysia Best Employer Brand Awards were selected by the Employer Branding Institute (EBI), a virtual organisation which connects senior leaders in human resources to share their best practices throughout the world. The awards celebrate Employers in several geographic regions as a build-up to the Global Employer Brands which are a part of the World HRD Congress. The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre), Malaysia’s premier award-winning purpose-built facility and Asia’s only AIPC (International Association of Congress Centres) Gold Standard venue, is celebrating its 12h consecutive year at AIME (Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo) 2018 with an emphasis on strengthening client engagement and networking with industry stakeholders.

Last year the Centre partnered with six Australian based clients on their events and aims to build on this momentum this year. The Centre hosted the Australian High Commission’s Australia Day Reception 2017, 5th International Secondary Lead Conference 2017, 17th Asian Battery Conference (ABC) 2017, Malaysia Australia Business Council (MABC) Networking Cocktail Reception, The University of Melbourne’s Malaysia Regional Office pre-departure briefing and Esri Malaysia User Conference 2017.

Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre’s Richmond Lim takes
‘Best Book in the World for Food Professionals’ title in World Awards

Kuala Lumpur, 2 April 2012 – Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre’s (the Centre) Executive Chef Richmond Lim made Malaysia proud when his book ‘The Stainless Steel Kitchen’ emerged the top out of 71 finalists to take home the ‘Best Book in the World for Food Professionals’ title at the ‘Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2011’ held in Paris, France, recently.

Launched in August last year (2011), Chef Richmond’s ‘The Stainless Steel Kitchen’ is a detailed guide for professionals in the culinary industry and provides a trove of innovative ideas and tips to tackle banqueting challenges encountered by chefs all over the world.

Chef Richmond represented Malaysia at the ‘Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2012 after ‘The Stainless Steel Kitchen’ took the ‘Best Book for Food Professionals’ in Malaysia title.

“I am extremely happy and humbled to be awarded the ‘Best in the World’ title in the Food Professionals category.  Representing Malaysia at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards’ was already an achievement of which to be proud. This latest win is one I will cherish forever,” said an ecstatic Chef Richmond.

“I would like to thank the Centre, in particular my mentor Datuk Peter Brokenshire for his continuing support, and the Centre’s culinary team for helping me make ‘The Stainless Steel Kitchen’ a reality and, an international award winner!”

The annual ‘Gourmand Best in the World Awards’ see winners from each country compete against other worldwide winners in the same category for the coveted ’Best in the World’ title. Founded in 1995 by Edouard Cointreau to recognise the best food and wine books, the awards are aimed at  rewarding and honouring those who “cook with words” to help readers find the best out of the average 26,000 foods and wine books produced every year, publishers with international rights to translate and distribute food and wine books, bookstores to find the best books to display, to create opportunities for books originating in other languages to access major markets and, to increase knowledge of, and respect for, food and wine culture.
