Outrigger Appoints Frederic Chelin to Lead Sales and Marketing for its Mauritius and Maldives Resorts

PHUKET, THAILAND – Outrigger Enterprises Group has appointed Frederic De Marcy Chelin to the newly created role of area director of sales and marketing – Indian Ocean.

Chelin will continue as director of sales and marketing for the Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort, a position he has held for four years, adding Outrigger Konotta Maldives Resort to his area of responsibility.

“Fred has impressed his Outrigger colleagues and the travel industry at large with his energy, enthusiasm and results for Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort; I have no doubt that he will bring the same drive and passion to our five-star Outrigger Konotta Maldives Resort,” said Sean Dee, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Outrigger Enterprises Group.

Chelin will report to Franck Seguin, Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort general manager; John Allanson, Outrigger Konotta Maldives Resort general manager; and Andrew Gee, Outrigger vice president of sales and marketing, Asia Pacific, based in Sydney.

The new dual role is consistent with Outrigger Resorts’ strategic sales and marketing structure in Asia Pacific: Rory Campbell as area director of sales and marketing for Outrigger Laguna Phuket Beach Resort and Outrigger Koh Samui Beach Resort in Thailand; and Ben Johnson as area director of sales and marketing for Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort and Castaway Island, Fiji.

Before joining Outrigger in Aug. 2013, Chelin, a native of Mauritius, worked for Starwood Hotels and Resorts as director of corporate and group sales, responsible for three properties in Mauritius: Le Meridien Ile Maurice, The Westin Turtle Bay, Mauritius, and The St. Regis Mauritius Resort. Prior, he was with two destination management companies on the island. Chelin graduated with a degree in tourism management from IFC Montpellier in France.

Outrigger Resorts welcomes Kelly Hoen as area GM
HONOLULU – Outrigger Enterprises Group announced today that Kelly Hoen has been appointed the area general manager for Outrigger’s two iconic beachfront properties in Waikiki – Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort and Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort.

In this role, she is responsible for sustained operational excellence at both properties, as well as direct oversight of sales strategy, market planning and revenue management. The position also includes day-to-day leadership at Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort, serving as its on-property general manager.

“Kelly’s track record for successfully repositioning hotels and resorts in Hawaii is unrivaled; her breadth of expertise and passion for excellence provide immense value for Outrigger as we undergo our Waikiki reinvestment and redevelopment strategy,” said Paul Richardson, chief operating officer of Outrigger Enterprises Group.

Hoen brings more than two decades of luxury hotel leadership to Outrigger Resorts. Most recently, she served as the general manager for The MODERN HONOLULU, a high-energy luxury lifestyle hotel at the gateway of Waikiki. Prior to this, she was the general manager of The Royal Hawaiian, a Luxury Collection Resort where she led the $80 million renovation and rebranding of this historic Waikiki Beach hotel. Before that, she was the general manager of Princeville Resort, a Luxury Collection Resort and was directly involved with the design and development what is now The St. Regis Princeville Resort.

A native of Hawaii, Hoen attended La Pietra Hawaii School for Girls in Honolulu, then went on to receive her bachelor of fine arts from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She has a penchant for professional development and holds the reputation of being one of the best mentors in Hawaii’s hospitality industry. She is a member of the La Pietra board of trustees, a member of the Aloha United Way board of directors, a member of the Easter Seals Hawaii board of directors and is the past chairperson of the Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Association board of directors.

PHUKET, THAILAND – Outrigger.com has won the Best Hotel/Resort Website Award at the Travelmole Asia Pacific Web Awards 2016.

The newly designed Outrigger.com wowed travel industry voters with its visually strong, highly customer-focused interface. Outrigger.com provides travelers with continually refreshed information, opportunities to interact one-on-one with Outrigger, and encourages sharing of experiences on social media.

Mark Simmons the Outrigger VP Sales & Marketing Asia Pacific received the award at the Travelmole Asia Pacific Web Awards ceremony 20 October 2016 during the ITB Asia travel show in Singapore.

Since launching in May 2016 mobile page views on Outrigger.com have increased by more than 30%. “This suggest that people are finding the new responsive site more user-friendly. They are definitely spending more time researching on it, which has led to a significant increase in mobile bookings,” said Outrigger Enterprises Group, Senior VP for Global Distribution, Dan Wacksman, who led the team that conceived and implemented the new Outrigger.com.

Wacksman described the new Outrigger.com as “visually evocative and very practical, allowing guests to be digitally immersed in our hotels and resorts, while at the same time ensuring an easy and seamless booking process”.

Beautiful photography and real-time data such as date/time, weather updates and a social media feed, all help to ensure guests get a real feel for Outrigger hotels and resorts, he said.

The Travelmole Asia Pacific Awards 2016, recognize excellence of travel industry vendors, destinations, resellers, technology and payment solution providers, whose websites, ecommerce, social media, mobile and IT deployment represent the ‘best of the best’ in the region, said the organiser.

Travelmole’s 75,000 Asia Pacific travel industry members and subscribers all had the chance to vote for companies of their choice in any of the 14 award categories. An expert panel of judges then selected the shortlist, from which Travelmole members and subscribers voted online to determine the winners.

PHUKET,  THAILAND – Outrigger Enterprises Group has announced the appointment of two vice presidents to its executive team. Bitsy Kelley is vice president,  corporate relations,  and Monica Salter is vice president,  corporate communications.,  , Kelley will take on a role of relationships,  representing Outrigger to audiences globally through relationship building,  community outreach and company events. She will continue as corporate/owner spokesperson and to lead Outrigger’s OZONE (Outrigger’s ZONE) conservation and sustainability initiatives at Outrigger destinations across the globe.,  , Kelley has been vice president corporate communications since 2013. Prior,  she hosted her own television show,  “Outdoor GPS, ” was radio host of “Bitsy Kelley Outdoors, ” and also television host of “America’s Outdoor Journal” on the Outdoor Channel. She also served as director of brand and business development for OHANA Hotels and Resorts.,  , Kelley is a board member of Outrigger Enterprises Group and also sits on the boards of Weather by Foundation International,  USA Gymnastics and USA Biathlon. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s degree in business administration from Chaminade University.,  , Salter joins Outrigger from Bennet Group Strategic Communications where she was senior vice president providing counsel to Outrigger for the past eight years. Her career history includes public relations director for Hotel Lanai,  communications manager for XTERRA’s International trail run series and assistant marketing director for the University of Hawaii athletics department.,  , As vice president,  corporate communications,  Salter will oversee strategy and direction for internal and external communications to elevate brand awareness and positive exposure for Outrigger worldwide. Responsible for Hawaii public relations,  she will also serve as primary media contact during crisis situations and manage Outrigger’s global public relations partners and in-house team.,  , Salter holds a bachelor’s degree in global and international studies from the University of California,  Santa Barbara,  and an MBA from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She also studied abroad in Siena,  Italy and worked in Prague,  Czech Republic.
