Neil Grimmer Brings Passion for Personalized Nutrition to 2018 Global Wellness Summit

Miami, FL – April 11, 2018The Global Wellness Summit (GWS), the foremost gathering of international leaders in the $3.7 trillion global wellness economy, today announced that Habit Founder and CEO Neil Grimmer will keynote at this year’s Summit. Grimmer is committed to revolutionizing how the world looks at nutrition and healthy eating by challenging “one size fits all” approaches in the multi-billion-dollar diet industry.

The 2018 Summit, which is the 12th-annual gathering of wellness industry leaders, will focus on the current business landscape and future trends for the ten diverse segments that make up the global wellness economy, including the $648 billion healthy eating, nutrition and weight loss sector. The theme of this year’s conference is “Shaping the Business of Wellness.”

Grimmer’s first foray into food and nutrition started when he co-founded Plum Organics, a company that disrupted the baby food aisle by replacing traditional prepared foods with a fresh, organic, tasty alternative. In 2013, Plum was sold to Campbell’s Soup, but Grimmer remains an active chairman of the board of Plum Organics.

After the success of Plum, Grimmer found himself overweight and at risk of long-term health issues. His personal journey–trips to doctors, nutritionists and geneticists–prompted the founding of Habit, which was launched with a $32 million investment from Campbell. The personalized nutrition company is the first solution that delivers a nutritional blueprint to guide eating choices for life. Habit measures and integrates over 60 nutrition-related blood, metabolic and genetic biomarkers, collected through an at-home test kit to determine the ideal foods and nutrients needed to reach dietary and fitness goals.

“Neil is on a mission to change the world through food and is the living embodiment of his work. His passion for holistic health and wellness–and how to achieve it–will no doubt inspire Summit delegates,” said Susie Ellis, chairman and CEO of the GWS.

Ellis noted that Grimmer has turned the old adage ‘you are what you eat’ on its head by building a business model around ‘you should eat what you are.’ Initial findings show that 74% of Habit users are able to lose weight by following a plan designed specifically for their body type and metabolism.

Habit is the ultimate response to the ineffective ‘trial and error’ process of fad dieting, and is founded on the deep science called ‘systems biology,” says Grimmer. “We’re at a point where personalization is possible and also highly accessible. Our entire mission at Habit is to optimize wellness through the understanding of the entire body and I can’t think of a better audience to share this with than the delegates at the Global Wellness Summit.

In addition to his business successes, Grimmer was recently named Innovator of the Year by Nutrition Business Journal; is the recipient of an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award; a fellow at the Aspen Institute and can be seen talking about personalized nutrition in his popular TEDx Talk, “Food Just Got Personal”.

The Global Wellness Summit is the world’s largest conference on the business of wellness. Ellis noted that the Summit is ‘invitation-only’ and first-time delegates should apply to attend as soon as possible as it is always a sold-out event.

About the Global Wellness Summit: The Global Wellness Summit (GWS) is an invitation-only international gathering that brings together leaders and visionaries to positively shape the future of the $3.7 trillion global wellness economy. Held in a different location each year, Summits have taken place in the U.S., Switzerland, Turkey, Bali, India, Morocco, Mexico and Austria. The 12th-annual Summit will be held at Technogym Village, Cesena, Italy from October 6-8, 2018.

LEADING INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATIONS TO ATTEND EIBTM

LEADING INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATIONS TO ATTEND EIBTM
MY ASSOCIATION | MY CLUB ATTRACTS GLOBAL ATTENTION

OKTOBER 2014 – A new initiative launched for the Association Sector by EIBTM has garnered support from the industry across the world and attracted a global representation of Buyers who are now registered to attend EIBTM 2014. My Association | My Club was announced in the summer to give a more flexible option to an Association Planner’s business and networking agenda at this year’s event in Barcelona from 18-20 November.

Association Buyers with average budgets between US$1m & US$5m and some as high as US$20m, have joined the programme which will see 20 countries represented including US, China, UK, Canada, Russia, Switzerland, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and France. The key elements of My Association | My Club have been designed in consultation with Association Planners through research and a dedicated Focus Group meeting.

Commenting on the new approach to the Association sector, Patrick Debus, Permanent Secretary World Federation of Consuls said: “I can only congratulate the EIBTM Team for having launched “MY ASSOCIATION / MY CLUB“, this new initiative is fully answering and definitively taking more care of the Association Planner’s expectations and I can only congratulate the team for such a useful and highly appreciated concern.”

Another participant from the Association Focus Group commented: “The new My Association | My Club programme is unique, as it is specifically tailored to the Association Executive, allowing optimal networking while offering maximal flexibility. The Club Lounge on the show floor and the Educational Sessions will allow to maximise interactions with fellow Executives and Exhibitors. No doubt this will enhance the return on investment of Exhibitors as well as Association Buyers.”

Richard Holmes, International Director of Meetings of International League against Epilepsy, added: “I am delighted to see that many of the suggestions from the Association Focus Group have been taken on board and incorporated into the planning of EIBTM 2014. By hosting Buyers at the same hotel and benefits such as the Association Hub, I expect to have greater opportunities to meet with other Association Buyers whom I might not get a chance to catch up with on the show floor. I hope that more flexible scheduling will allow me to maximise my limited time, meeting with more partners and suppliers at the show.”

Priority has been given to “flexibility” a key request that came out of the research. Each Association Planner can now control their own itinerary, through choosing what they do, allowing time to explore the show, choose their own meetings and appointments and add to them as they wish in their own Association Hub – a dedicated Club Lounge on the show floor. With dedicated networking, and their own host hotel, the Association Club also means that the attendees get to be together throughout their attendance at EIBTM 2014.

Whilst the Association Planners will continue to have their own dedicated education sector sessions, they will also have the flexibility to attend any of the EIBTM Knowledge Programme, defining which best suit their own business – another request that was made from those who participated in the research.

“We are delighted by the response from the international Association sector, since we announced the launch of My Association | My Club. It was clear from the Focus Group held to determine and discuss what they wanted from their industry event, that we needed to think big and make some fundamental changes. We have, and we hope that EIBTM 2014 will be exactly what they want from their stay with us in Barcelona, and that our suppliers will obviously benefit as well from this more flexible approach,” said Graeme Barnett, EIBTM Senior Exhibition Director, Reed Travel Exhibitions.

“More than ever, EIBTM is definitively the key Event for Associations Meeting Planners to meet the World, and their world, in the most enjoyable and fruitful conditions,” added Debus.

Best of the Best at ITB 2013

March 28, 2013

Best of the Best at ITB 2013

(Forimmediaterelease.net) Germany belongs to a group of 10 countries boasting an exceptional image. That is the result of a survey among trade visitors at ITB Berlin, carried out by the Denmark-based Reputation Institute, which polled 1,145 trade visitors at the world’s largest travel trade show. Half of the respondents came from Germany. The other half came from 84 different countries. Opinions were asked regarding the image of 20 countries.

The countries boasting the best reputations were: Australia, Germany, the UK, Switzerland, Indonesia, Spain, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Austria, Japan, and France. Of these, Germany was ranked fourth among the 5 countries most worth visiting. It was led by Spain, Switzerland, and the UK and trailed by France.

Among the top 5 countries for investing in, Germany climbed to second place behind the UAE, ahead of Switzerland, the UK, and Austria. The top 5 countries for living in were Australia, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, and the UAE. Among the top countries for studying in, Germany was ranked second, behind the UK in first spot. The remaining places were taken by Switzerland, the USA, and Australia.

Germany came first in two categories. It was voted the best country to work in, beating the UK, Switzerland, Australia, and the UAE. Trade visitors at ITB Berlin also considered Germany the best country for introducing new products to the market, ahead of the UK, Switzerland, France, and Japan.

The award ceremony of the Best Exhibitor Awards (BEA) which was organized by students of the Cologne Business School (CBS) during ITB in Berlin was once again one of the fair highlights. Four days long, the future Tourism Managers of the CBS evaluated the approximately 10,000 exhibitors at the CBS according to numerous criteria like information content, interactivity, interesting effects, and service quality.

Saturday night, March 9, the award ceremony took place in the Palais at the Funkturm on the Berlin fair trade premises. The CBS students Jessica Wack and Marie-Caroline Utsch hosted this year’s award ceremony. The 10 best placed exhibitors of each category were awarded in front of over 600 invited guests, and the best 3 of each category on stage. The patron of the project is Klaus Laepple, honorary President of the DRV and former President of the Federal Association of the German Tourism Industry (BTW). The General Secretary of the BTW, Michael Rabe, held a welcoming address, thanked the students for their outstanding commitment, and recommended them as future tourism managers.

For days on end, the future tourism managers, most of whom opted for the core subject of tourism, have visited some 12,000 booths at the ITB and assessed them according to numerous criteria such as booth construction, information contents, service quality, friendliness, and special effects.

As in every year, extraordinary performances of the prizewinners took place at the award ceremony. Besides many others, the Dominican Republic and Sri Lanka danced, and Sharjah and Burundi drummed their way onto the stage with traditional sounds.

This year’s Best of Best Award was given to Abu Dhabi.

Speaking for Emirates, the prizewinner in the category Carrier, Volker Greiner, Emirates Vice President North & Central Europe, said: “We are proud to receive the prestigious Best Exhibitor Award for our trade fair appearance this year. Over many years, ITB Berlin has become our largest trade fair presence outside our home market in Dubai. (…)”

Martina Leicher from the Cologne Consultancy COMPASS GmbH, which has mentored the project since its initiation, drew attention to the ever-increasing popularity of the BEA as well, stating: “Over the years, the BEA became a Benchmark-Tool for the exhibitors at ITB, and for many of them it is very important to score high in the ranking. That’s mainly because of the fact that the BEA is the only evaluation of its kind. The criteria catalogue is online available, and many exhibitors are making use out of that in the preparation for the ITB.

Following 4 intense trade fair days, Prof. Dr. Guido Sommer, Dean of the Tourism Department at the CBS, draws a positive conclusion, saying: “This year we have even put a higher focus on the overall concept, authenticity, and B2B-Area. The whole team did a fantastic job, and I am proud of the students for their professional work and their self-initiative. For the Cologne Business School, it is very important to cooperate closely with the tourism industry, not only during the lectures, but also by working together on projects such as the Best Exhibitor Award.

The CBS and COMPASS will also continue the project in 2014 and evaluate the trade fair booths as a partner to Messe Berlin in order to honor the most impressive of them with the Best Exhibitor Award.

The Cologne Business School (CBS) is an internationally-orientated, state-recognized university of applied sciences and counts as one of Germany’s top business schools. The Cologne Business School also ensures highest quality education – in addition to official state recognition, all study courses are regularly examined by the tri-national accreditation agency FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation).

CIBTM 2012 – THE BIGGEST EVER
China’s largest meetings, incentives and business travel exhibition

CIBTM, (www.cibtm.com), China’s largest meetings, incentives and business travel exhibition (12 – 14 September 2012) taking place at the China National Convention Centre (CNCC), Beijing, has received unprecedented regional and international exhibitor bookings and Hosted Buyer registrations, driven by regional and overseas companies wanting to do business with each other.

Supported by the findings of the 2011 CIBTM Industry Research Report, growth is not only for the meetings market within China, but also for the volume of meetings and events inbound to China from international planners as well as the growth predicted for outbound business tourism from the region.

Jeffrey Xu, Reed Travel Exhibitions, CIBTM Project Manager commented, “Last year’s analysis showed that 74% of buyer respondents and 52% of suppliers forecasted an increase in the volume of events that they would organise and supply to over the next twelve months. This clearly demonstrates the high demand for businesses who can cater for China, Asia and the rest of the world, which explains the unprecedented request for space from exhibitors.”

97% of the show floor is now booked as many new exhibitors, along with a long list of returning companies have signed up to continue leveraging the exposure and business leads which the show generates for both regional and international meetings industry suppliers.

24 regional and international exhibitors have signed up to attend CIBTM for the first time this year including Italy, Holland, Madrid Convention Bureau, Switzerland, InterContinental Hotels Group, Okinawa Tourism Board, MGM Grand Ho Tram, MasterCard, McArthurGlen UK Ltd, Chengdu Tourism board,Diaoyutai MGM Hotels,The Okura Group, Shenzhen Best Meeting, Sengmen International Hotel Management Ltd,China OCT, Pacific World, Changjiang Cruise Overseas Travel Co., Hotel Equatorial Shanghai, Xi’an Tangyi Fang, Global Management Services, Carey International, London & Partners, Circus Maximus International and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.

“Exhibitors from 2011 have returned once again this year as a direct result of the return on investment they achieved from their participation in last year’s show. As part of our on-going development and progression, we continually conduct research around inbound and outbound business from the regions where each of our shows are held. We are looking forward to this year’s update of the IBTM Global research at the show as it will provide us with an insight of what to expect in the industry sector for 2013,” continued Xu.

“We are delighted to be participating in CIBTM once again. Last year’s show delivered for us on all fronts and we achieved a great deal of business leads following our participation. CIBTM continually delivers a great quality audience of Hosted Buyers and we are looking forward to exhibiting again this year,” said Mercedes García, Marketing Manager at Barcelona’s Tourism Convention Bureau.

CIBTM has also received a higher volume of Hosted Buyer applications, 320 to date (33% up from this time last year) nearly 80% of the number expected at the show. Regional Hosted Buyers confirmed to attend are from cities including Shenzen, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Qingdao and international Hosted Buyers are traveling from cities including Hong Kong, Moscow, Madrid, London and New York.

Regional Hosted Buyer Ding Jisheng, Senior Business Development Manager, Motorola (China) Electronics Limited comments, “I feel that CIBTM has become a must-attend MICE event which provides corporate buyers with direct access to first hand industry information, allows them to build a rapport with new suppliers as well as learn more about the industry through the cutting-edge education programme. I always expect unique suppliers for meetings and events and CIBTM never lets me down”.

This year’s CIBTM Education programme is now confirmed (www.cibtm.com</em>) with more than 19 tailored education sessions taking place over the course of 3 days. The Site International Conference follows CIBTM this year in Beijing. For full event details and to apply for free Hosted Buyer or visitor status logon to www.cibtm.com/en/Visiting

European hospitality results 2011

European hospitality results 2011: betwixt satisfaction and a question mark

The year 2011 closes with positive indicators for hotel business throughout the European Union, with an average of 5.6% growth in the RevPAR as a result of increased occupancy combined with growth in average daily rates. And yet, the dynamic that was seen until Spring 2011 slowed in the last quarter.

It is important to observe that for the 27 countries in the European Union plus Switzerland, the results of the hotel business for 2011 are positive. No country closed the year with a downturn for its reference indicator –the RevPAR1– even if there is a broad range between stagnation in Switzerland (+0.4%) and strong improvement in Poland (+9.4%). While on the one hand Switzerland is already positioned among the highest levels of performance, on the other Poland occasionally benefited from its six‐month presidency of the European Union. The European countries with the strongest hotel activity –United Kingdom, France, Germany or the Benelux– are positioned within a tighter range: between 4% and 6% growth, which better reflects the state of Europe’s marketplace.

With an average European occupancy rate higher than 66%, hotel occupancy gained 2 points over 2010, which was already in a strong recovery over the crisis of 2009. The prize goes to the international gateways, capitals and business cities: Amsterdam, Berlin, Ghent, Hamburg, London, Munich, Paris and Zürich, which flirt with or surpass an OR2 of 75% across the year. With an OR close to 85% London beats all records, and is close to saturation. At the bottom of the table, Spanish cities (Saragossa, Seville) and Italian ones (Bologna) reflect the difficulty of the national markets. Even cities with highly seasonal business that depends on exhibitions and fairs (Cannes and Hanover) progressed in 2011. The rare drops in occupancy with respect to 2010 are minimal, largely less than 1 point.

This strong demand justified a significant improvement in the average daily rate (for many cities around 4% and more), an indicator of the shift of the vast majority of European cities into the upper part of the hotel cycle. Only a few German cities (Berlin, Leipzig, Munich, Nuremberg), Italian cities (Florence, Turin) and Spanish ones (Bilbao, Madrid, Saragossa) activated the rate dynamic to boost or relaunch demand.

The question mark bears on the prolongation of the slump observed in year‐end business. The degradation of national economies, the concern about the impact of debt, and austerity measures have an evident effect on the average slump observed in Europe where the OR and ADR3 fell into the red last December. Past experience taught that the midscale and upscale segments reacted more visibly to the change in economic climate. In cities where the weight of these categories is preponderant (Central Europe, Scandinavian countries, Spain and Italy…), the stabilizing effect of the economy hotel segment was impotent.

1 RevPAR: Occupancy rate x average price or room revenue divided by available rooms
2 OR: Occupancy Rate – number of sold rooms divided by number of available rooms
3 ADR: Average Daily Rate – room revenue divided by number of sold rooms
