Three weeks, twelve nations – the most exciting active tour of the summer 
the “Largest Vodka Train Tour“ – From Russia to Mongolia and China completed



Moscow, August 20th 2010 – From June twelve to 30th almost 100 adventure and sports enthusiasts from twelve countries were on their way by train, by foot, bus and ferry – at the Vodka Train Tour 2010. This summer offer included among other things a boat party on the Moscow River, cross country running along the Eurasian border, a bath in icy Lake Baikal and a stay in exclusive Mongolian yurts. It was the largest organized cultural, sports and event tour of Vodkatrain-Travel.


Start for all participants, coming from Australia, Barbados, China, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Canada, the USA and more countries, was Moscow – on 20th anniversary of Russia’s independence. With a boat party on the Moskva River the organizers rang a unique, challenging and inspiring journey for the international participants. At the first stage they took the Trans-Siberian railway via Kazan to Yekaterinburg and the “border of Eurasia”. Sightseeing and cross-country races were program at each station. Fun and sport mated the euphoric participants from all over the world, also at a picnic in the Eurasian border, when half of the group at the European, the other half on Asian terrain drank on each ones health. 

Irkutsk was the next exciting stop on the Vodka Train Tour. From here the international travelers took a two-day break after the journey along the historic Trans-Sib route on Lake Baikal. Hardly any of the participants went swimming in seven degrees cold lake, which is known as a rejuvenating spa. A ferry brought the group to the island of Olkhon for another cross-country run and accommodation in traditional wooden huts and with folklore in the evening. 
Back to Irkutsk they continued with the train to Mongolia which was a pure cultural experience: unspoiled nature, adventurous cinematic scenes in public trains, cross-country races in a remote monastery and shaman fire dance in the exclusive hotel Mongolia with rooms as Mongolian yurts. 

„The journey was emotionally and physically was the best ever” wrote a participant from Australia to the organizers after her return „You helped make it a trip of a lifetime for me” said another participant and “The Vodka Train was an exciting, enjoyable and memorable holiday/adventure. It was everything and more than what we were expecting…”.

The final stage was Mongolia to China. The cosmopolitan group was not only in the Gobi desert, they also took fascinating pictures of the Hanging Monastery in Datong and the surrounding caves.
The farewell, after a walk on the Great Wall, was not easy after three weeks. Some enthusiasts of the Vodka Train Tour 2010, already planned a revival meeting after their return home where they will surely talk a lot about this tour.

ITB Berlin startet 2013 erstmalig offizielles Magazin speziell für internationale Besucher

Juli 2012 – Neue Informationsquelle für internationale Messebesucher: Mit den ITB Berlin News startet die Messe Berlin 2013 erstmalig ein englischsprachiges Magazin insbesondere für Fachbesucher und Journalisten aus dem Ausland. Start-up snowbon gewinnt den diesjährigen „Sprungbrett“-Wettbewerb – Traffics ist Sieger in der Kategorie „Established

Berlin, den 14. Juni 2012 – Eine e-Commerce Initiative für den Wintersport überzeugte die Jury, die sich aus über 60 Entscheidungsträgern der (Online)-Reiseindustrie zusammensetzte: Das Münchener Start-up Unternehmen snowbon ist der Gewinner des diesjährigen VIR-Innovationswettbewerbs „Sprungbrett“, der in Kooperation mit der Messe Berlin zum fünften Mal im Rahmen der „VIR Online Innovationstage“ im Marshall-Haus stattfand. In der Kategorie „Established“ machte das Software-Unternehmen Traffics mit seinem in der Branche bereits bekannten HeliView Projekt das Rennen.

Bei einer spannenden Wettbewerbspräsentation setzten sich die beiden Gründer von snowbon, Stefan Senft und Tim Huonker, in der Kategorie „Start-up“ gegen vier weitere Finalisten durch. Ihre Geschäftsidee: Die Online-Buchbarkeit von Skipässen zur Wintersaison 2012/13 nach nord-amerikanischem Vorbild zunächst in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz einzuführen. „Unser Ziel ist es, Yield Management, Marktsegmentierung und Onlineverkauf im Wintersportmarkt zu etablieren“, so Stefan Senft.

Die „Sprungbrett“-Sieger dürfen sich über einen Gewinn im Wert von über 20.000 Euro freuen: Sie erhalten ein von HRS gestiftetes Preisgeld in Höhe von 5.000 Euro, einen Stand oder eine Pressekonferenz auf der ITB Berlin 2013 mit Unterstützung der Messe Berlin, eine Umfrage in Kooperation mit der Internationalen Hochschule Bad Honnef ● Bonn und eine Beratung durch das Private Equity-Unternehmen PONTIS Capital. Ferner gewährt die PR-Agentur Wilde & Partner Unterstützung bei der Presse- und Öffentlich-keitsarbeit, und snowbon erhält eine einjährige Mitgliedschaft im Travel Industry Club sowie einen Mietwagengutschein des Vermittlers Sunny Cars.

Auf Platz zwei der Start-up Finalisten beim „Sprungbrett“-Wettbewerb landete die Hotelplattform Myhotelshop GmbH vor der Guiders GmbH und ihrem Outdoor-Tourenangebot. Weitere Teilnehmer in der Endausscheidung waren JustBook mit Hotelvermittlungsangeboten über Smartphone und travel-friends.com mit Urlaubsangeboten bei Auswanderern.

„Alle Finalisten sind Gewinner, denn sie beweisen unternehmerischen Mut und nutzen die Vorteile der Internet-Welt für eine kreative Geschäftsidee im Online-Reisesektor“, betonte VIR-Vorstand Michael Buller. „Auf den VIR Online Innovationstagen erhalten sie eine hervorragende Gelegenheit, ihre Idee vor den wichtigsten Entscheidungsträgern der Branche zu präsentie-ren, und wertvolle Kontakte für den Aufbau ihrer Portale zu knüpfen.“

Dr. Martin Buck, Direktor des KompetenzCenter Travel und Logistics der Messe Berlin fügt hinzu: „Die VIR Online Innovationstage haben sich als wichtiger Branchentreff der Online-Reisebranche längst etabliert. Zum dritten Mal wurde auch in der Sprungbrett-Kategorie „Established“ ein Preis vergeben: Hier setzte sich Traffics mit seinem HeliView Projekt, das aktuell unter anderem in die eigene Buchungsseite www.reisesuche.de eingebunden ist, gegen fünf weitere Finalteilnehmer durch. Der CEO des Software-Anbieters, Salim Sahi, nahm die Wettbewerbs-Jury mit auf eine virtuelle Reise in luftiger Höhe und stellte das umfangreiche Angebot von Hotels und Urlaubsregionen aus der Vogelperspektive vor. Im Jahr 2012 werden die HeliView Aktivitäten von Traffics, die bislang auf Europa konzentriert waren, auf beliebte Ferienziele in Asien ausgedehnt. Platz zwei unter den Finalisten der „Established“-Kategorie belegte China Tours aus Hamburg mit seiner neuen Online-Reisekonfiguration vor der Amadeus Germany GmbH und ihrer Social Media Suite. Weitere Teilnehmer in der Endausscheidung waren die GetYourGuide AG, HRS sowie die TVG Touristik Vertriebsgesellschaft mbH.
